This site aims to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. People reading it are often uncomfortable, worried, or looking at it on a phone in a waiting room, so it is built to stay usable under all of those conditions.
What we have done
- Every interactive element can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline
- A skip link at the top of each page jumps straight to the content
- Text and interface colours meet AA contrast ratios against their backgrounds
- Pages use real headings in order, so screen reader users can navigate by structure
- Clinical photographs carry descriptive alternative text, and are hidden from assistive technology if a visitor chooses to hide them
- Text reflows without horizontal scrolling down to 320 pixels wide and at 200% zoom
- Animation is reduced automatically if your device is set to prefer reduced motion
- Nothing relies on colour alone to convey meaning
Video
Videos are not loaded until you choose to play them. Captions are provided by YouTube; where automatic captions are inaccurate for clinical terms, please let us know and we will correct them.
Known limitations
Some of the clinical photographs came from older presentation slides and are lower resolution than we would like. Where an image was too small to display honestly, we left it out rather than enlarging it.
